Friday's Fancies and Week 4 (Again)

Happy Friday!

First of all, hallelujah. I got through my first week at work (I love it!!) and Andrew and I are off for a weekend adventure. Here's my Friday's Fancies outfit, inspired by the new job! I seriously want to strut my sass in this outfit to a happy hour after work some day.

[Below the gorgeous outfit is my weekly weight loss diary post. Wah.]

Friday's Fancies

Weekly Update:
Weight loss:
Nada. I gained.

Total weight loss:
I gained. It sucks. I didn't eat anything bad this week, but I was careless about portion control and we ate dinner every night at 9pm or later. I have a feeling that's why the scale and I are not on speaking terms.

Pounds remaining to reach goal weight:
31.4 - depressing.

[I did not come up with my goal weight arbitrarily. This goal weight is based on the WW site guidelines. My goal weight is actually on the heavy range for my age and height.]

Overall mood this week:
Honestly I was hoping for a loss and I'm insanely disappointed. Full disclosure: I weighed another 1.5 pounds more when I woke up than I did when I got home from work, so I don't know what's going on with me. It makes me wonder if my body was just meant to look this way...and I know that's silly, so it also makes me wonder if when I get down to my goal weight will I be able to stay there? I know that Weight Watchers is a lifestyle and not a diet, but when I go to bed hungry and am "that girl" at the bar eating a salad then I just worry that being thin isn't something I am meant to be.

However, I rocked my outfit today at work. I feel like I look better even if the scale disagrees.

Worked out:
4 times, but one doesn't really count since it was a quick pick-me-up one evening this week. Sigh...

Little Bit of Sass Thursday!

Photobucket

Hey there sassy friends! So I'm a little late on the posting but oh well. Yesterday I added some sass to my pearls with leopard print flats. Great pairing, don't you think? How did you add a touch of personality to your day?

Here's a sasstastic picture from my pinterest board. This little lass knows what I'm talking about! Have a good one!

Wishful Wednesday! Wish Granted Edition

Photobucket

So at my weekly Jewel run I went down the cereal aisle. My plan was simple: purchase some tasty cereal on sale to take with me on the go. What? A serving of Apple Jacks is only 1 point and I like to munch! Anyway, I was drawn to the center of the aisle. The fluorescent lights shone down upon me. The boxes parted. My gaze lifted slightly to my left when I spotted it: my favorite cereal reincarnated!!! That's right! My favorite cereal that was discontinued for some strange reason is BACK!!! It used to be called Honey Crunch Corn Flakes, but has reemerged as Crunchy Nut. I could not believe that my years of wait were over and my wish was granted, for my favorite cereal was in my life yet again. I almost bought every box in case it got discontinued again, but I resisted. Plus, I walk home from the Jewel, so I was trying to be logical. Anyhow, I'm currently munching and I couldn't be happier. What are you wishing for this Wednesday?

Mary's Musings Monday!

Photobucket

Hey everyone! Today was my first day on the job. It was quite a whirlwind but I enjoyed every minute of it! The office is a beautiful old warehouse with exposed brick throughout the space. Love! The commute takes about an hour but it's worth it. I would talk about this on a vlog post, but I just worked out and look a mess, which doesn't matter to me, but I'll spare you having to see me dripping in sweat. However, here is a pic of my first day outfit. What do you think? I am aware that I am pale but I refuse to say "no" to neutral pumps and a white blouse. Blinding, fabulous...same difference.

I can wear jeans to work when we don't have clients in the office, so I think this casual look will work well until I can fit into those dark skinny jeans I am longing to wear :)

I Won!!

Happy Sunday!

How are all of your weekends going? I have had a wonderful time so far! Andrew's friends from school are in town and their little reunion was an absolute blast. Pair that with us making dinner and lounging Friday night and I'd say that's one nice weekend!

I also won a blog contest! Elizabeth from Have Your Cake & Eat It Too was so sweet to invite me to participate in the Deborah Lippmann giveaway - and I won! Yay for new nail polish! Thank you again, Elizabeth! Here's a picture of my winnings! I will share a review once I receive the new shades :)

Friday's Fancies and Week 3 (Again)

Happy Friday readers! First I have a Friday's Fancies I would like to share for the Long Distance Loving weekly post, then my weekly weigh-in Weight Watchers post.

Friday's Fancies

I just love this Lily dress and thought that pairing it with these shoes are a solid combination of class and sass. What do you think? If you "like" my set on {av}'s site (here) I could possibly win this week!

Weekly Update:
Weight loss:
I lost 1.4 pounds!

Total weight loss:
3!! - (I started again)

Pounds remaining to reach goal weight:
29.9 - so far to go.

[Please remember that I did not come up with my goal weight arbitrarily. This goal weight is based on the WW site guidelines. My goal weight is actually on the heavy range for my age and height.]

Overall mood this week:
I am OK with a slow weight loss. Other times when I re-start Weight Watchers I usually lose a little bit more at the beginning. Oh well, I feel good. Plus I got a job starting Monday, so my mood is pretty positive! :)

Worked out:
4 times!

Yummy finds:
I love Jimmy John's, but the bread isn't WW friendly. However, I can get my favorite sandwich (The Country Club) without cheese and mayo on an unwich (lettuce wrap) for only 3 points! Yay!! I do miss the bread and my friend mayo, but the mustard is tasty and it's a great way to save points so I can eat more throughout the day!

Little Bit of Sass Thursday!

Photobucket

Hey there sassy readers! How did you add some sass to your step today? I actually wore pearls, and while I adore pearls, it just felt wrong since I vowed that Thursdays would be the day of the week where I would strut my sass more than any other. However, the dress I wore with the pearls? It was a healthy mixture of sass and class if I do say so myself. Do you ever pair pearls with a sassy get-up? Do tell!!

No matter the wardrobe, I had a happy day. I got a job!!! Everyone I told (including my amazing internship co-workers) were happy for me! It really was a great day.

Since I enjoy my pinterest a little bit too much, here's a little sassy outfit from my sassy board to inspire you today. Snap your fingers, friends! Work it!

Wishful Wednesday!

Photobucket

Oh my hotness is it a scorcher here today. Honestly, though, I have had a marvelous day so I do not want to complain. To continue the good day I am currently checking out a bar called the New Line Tavern in the Warehouse District of the West Loop (thank you Google for informing me of where I am!). This bar is awesome because it smells incredible, has a great menu selection, is right under the Clinton L stop, and has wi-fi! Today I am wishing, however, that I was not on Weight Watchers. The menu is making my mouth water. If I had money and a sweet metabolism I would get the New Line Queso Dip, followed by the Honeymooner sandwich, all while sipping one (or five) of the delicious-looking cocktails. It's OK, though, my Amstel Light and I are doing fine...but I am keeping the menu so I can continue to drool.

What are you wishing for this Wednesday?

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

Photobucket

Good afternoon, my classy readers. How are you doing this evening? I don't know about you, but I'm having a hard time being classy today, apart from wearing a shirt-dress, a messy braid, barely wearable sandals, and a fresh layer of sweat every 15 minutes. Oh and I managed to make a mess with my banana at Starbucks. What is a clumsy girl to do? How do you stay classy in the heat and consuming difficult-to-handle fruit? Sigh...maybe I should channel some Chanel for inspiration.

Mary's Musings Monday!

Photobucket

I just couldn't think of anything to say via vlog today. It is so hot here that my brain is mush and I am afraid to move lest I sweat even more. It's so mushy, in fact, that I'm entertained by watching The Hills on the TV Guide Channel. That's right, there is an endless scroll of other options on TV flowing right under the terrible show, and yet I am sitting here, sweating, and watching it. Pathetic.

Happy Saturday!

Here's my Friday's Fancies entry for what I would wear this weekend. Or: here's my ode to Tory Burch and other expensive accessories. :)

Week 2 (Again)

Howdy readers!

So as I wrote last week, Andrew and I got back on the Weight Watchers wagon. I'm really happy we're back to a healthier lifestyle and I feel so much better. If you forgot, I am documenting my Weight Watchers journey because writing it down to share with everyone is a motivator. I hate writing when I have gains, but I do it! It just pushes me that much harder knowing other people are cheering for me to be healthy and successful.

Weekly Update:
Weight loss:
I lost 1.6 pounds!

Total weight loss:
1.6 - I don't count anything before this. It's a brand new day, after all ;)

Pounds remaining to reach goal weight:
31.3 - goodness. Can I do it? I sure hope so.

I did not come up with my goal weight arbitrarily. This goal weight is based on the WW site guidelines. My goal weight is actually on the heavy range for my age and height. It's weird to imagine me at that weight because the last time I was that weight was, well, junior high? I'm not too sure. My goal size is a size 4 but I will be happy with a 6 because I do remember the last time I wore a size 6 was in 6th grade. Right now I wear a 10 and am flirting with a size 8. So, no I'm not fat and I don't think I am. I just know I could look healthier - and I LOVE the toned look! When I was at my thinnest senior year of college I comfortably wore an 8 and even bought a size 6 jean from Target for $10. They were snug, but hey, I got into them! You better believe I still have those and am dying to wear them. OK wow I can't believe I am admitting all of this. Do you think I'm crazy?

Overall mood this week:
Honestly I was hoping for a bigger loss considering I ate SO much better than I have in a while. At the same time, though, all I do is The Butt Bible which is mainly toning, so that could be the culprit. I guess I should vary it a little, but I just love the exercises! And, call me crazy, but after three weeks of it I am seeing results. Yay for muscles!!! :) So yeah, overall, I've been happy this week because I am content knowing that I am treating myself well by eating right and working out.

Worked out:
6 times! Like I said, though, it was all Butt Bible (and one day of yoga!) in my living room, plus a lot of walking. I should run. I just hate it and it hurts my knees. Suggestions? Motivation?? Imagine myself in those size 6 jeans perhaps?

Wishful Wednesday!

Photobucket

Good afternoon!

This Wednesday I'm wishing that my desk lunch included Manchego cheese, prosciutto, French bread, and a glass (or five) of wine. Instead, I have a diet coke and a Weight Watcher-friendly meat and cheese spread, weighing in at only 5 points!

The ingredients were all on sale this week, and I LOVE cherries! I do, however, feel improper for fishing out the pits once I finish each cherry. Whatever, I have napkins and no shame.

Anyway, the crackers are crazy thin and crazy tasty. So thin that I am wearing most of my crackers. Oh well, that's just the way the cracker crumbles I guess. The picture below isn't the actual brand I have, but I can't remember the name. I think it's only 1 point per serving but I need to check. (Wow that was a helpful paragraph. haha)

Then there's the low sodium, barely any fat meat. The honey turkey is super tasty and very thin, almost like my favorite prosciutto (only not at all, but go with me on this)! The serving size is 2 ounces and is only 2 points for a fair amount of meat!!

Then there's the cheese. I have been a fan of Laughing Cow for a while now, but the new flavors are wedges of heaven. My current favorites are the Blue Cheese and the Chipotle. (...mmmm Chipotle...)

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

Photobucket

So I realized that I did not have anything devoted to the title of my blog. Silly me. So with a little brainstorming and messing around on Aviary, voila! Buttons and weekly themes were born.

I tend to think that life is fun courtesy of combining two traits that just so happen to rhyme: class and sass. The class aspect, to me, is sort of like the invitation to the party, whereas the sass? Well the sass is what you bring to the party. Get what I mean? The sass makes you YOU. However, the sass has its time and place. When you understand the balance you exude class. So, it is only proper to post something classy and something sassy each week in addition to my normal posts as a way to show some balance in this crazy world of ours. Thanks to my pintrest I can easily accomplish this task. Whether the posts feature fashion, figureheads, food, or items for the home, I aim to present you with an image each Tuesday and Thursday to brighten your day and help you see that you can be both classy and sassy. Here's my first classy picture. Oh how simplistic designs and crisp colors portray elegance.

You stay classy, PLANET EARTH. :)

Sharing a Saturday Sweet!

So I have been DYING to share this with all of you. First of all, I read about Diet Coke Brownies on one of my favorite blogs My Two Cents (...before I spend it). The next shopping trip you better believe I picked up some DC and brownie mix. But I didn't stop there. No, no. My favorite dessert is a brownie sundae and I had to attempt a brownie sundae in a healthy manner since I just got back on the wagon. Here is a picture of my ingredients with the accompanying point values:

  • 1 Diet Coke: 0 points
  • Fat Free whipped cream: 0 points
  • Edy's Slow Churned No Sugar Added French Vanilla ice cream: 2 points per 1/2 cup. (P.S. this is THE BEST low-fat ice cream I have ever had, which is saying something. I've done the leg work.)
  • Pillsbury Sugar-Free Chocolate Fudge brownie mix: 3 points per brownie (the mix makes 12 brownies)
  • Smucker's Sugar Free chocolate topping: 3 points per 2 tablespoons
So the DC is the ONLY thing you need to add to the brownie mix. No egg, no oil, no water. Woot! Admittedly, I should have baked them longer (or been patient enough for the oven to pre-heat. Oops.). The brownies were pretty gosh darn good for being only three points. Oh I should have also waited for them to cool all the way before attempting to cut them, but I wanted a warm brownie for my sundae. I mean, c'mon. Also, 2 tablespoons is actually quite a bit of topping when I just wanted a cute little drizzle, so that's easy to cut back on to cut points. All in all, my sundae was about 7 points. That's pretty awesome considering an average brownie sundae would probably be near my whole daily point value (Dairy Queen's is 26 and Baskin Robbin's is 25). I don't need the chocolate sauce, so a 5-point incredible dessert is totally worth having a smaller meal during the day, you know? Here's the final result:

Eat your heart out, Dairy Queen.

Week 1 (Again)

Hello there readers! I would have posted this week and conjured up a lovely Friday's Fancies but this week was just too busy. I started my awesome internship, had freelance work and The Butt Bible to do, but I thought about all of you, I promise!

Anyway, today Andrew and I got back on the wagon. That's right. Weight Watchers. We've been having a little bit too much fun tasting Chicago and celebrating all that we've done since May, and my clothes are starting to fit again. Wah. Hence, back on track with being healthy. I'm not going to lie to you, weighing in this morning was not fun but I just said to myself, "Self, it will only get better from here." I've also been inspired. Andrew of course inspires me to stay on track. Second, I'm reading Best Friends Forever currently (a present from Cal), and the protagonist struggled with her weight until she said enough is enough, got to the gym, and threw out the junk. I, too, said I'd had enough with being chubby. I also just read a post from Shrink to Fit and she posted a picture that gave me hope.

Guess what? I'm great. :)

Friday's Fancies

Happy 4th weekend, everyone! Here's my 4th-themed outfit! I know the point of Friday's Fancies is to pick pieces that are crazy expensive, and while I did that with the gorgeous MK bag, everything else is reasonable! Woo! I would wear this outfit tonight - Andrew and I are going to Millennium Park with some friends and I would love to sport this sassy dress and bag if I could! Have a happy and safe holiday weekend!!

Friday's Fancies 4th of July!
