Wedding Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time to link up with me and Kristyn from Chits & Giggles!

My Bridesmaids know me so well. So well, in fact, that they know how to surprise me and put a smile on my face. One of them in particular did just that today.

Let me back up.

My Bridesmaid Megan found out my love of the Steelers early on in our friendship. The first year of grad school was also the first year Andrew and I dated. Andrew and I met at the Steelers bar in DC and Megan, therefore, heard all about that during the fall. That Christmas, Andrew surprised me with tickets to my first Steelers game in Pittsburgh! It was amazing!!! I was so shocked! What a gift!!!!!

So of course I had to brag about this awesome gift.

I chose to do so at our grad school program's holiday party.

A group of us (including Megan) had had a few free cocktails and were chatting, exchanging stories about our week. We all had drinks in our hands in small and cheap plastic cups. When I told all of them about my gift, I described the envelope Andrew gave me containing the tickets and the whole experience with gusto. I ended my dramatic diatribe by saying, "Andrew got me STEELERS TICKETS!!!!!" and accidentally smashed the cup in my hands, causing the contents to drip down my hand and onto the floor. Ooops.

Needless to say, STEELERS TICKETS became a saying in our little group whenever we were excited about something.

Throughout grad school, Megan also accompanied me to the Steelers bar even though she strongly dislikes (borderline hates) the Steelers. She watched the Super Bowl with me, too (yes, the one where we lost to Green Bay. Ugh.). She always understood when I chose to watch the games on Sundays (and Monday nights) instead of do nerdy grad school work...usually because she was watching football, too.

Fast-forward to Andrew's proposal and she was partly responsible for the awesome Steelers jersey I saw when I walked into the bar! Oh and thanks to that jersey she now receives a weekly email from the Steelers.

And today, yet again, Megan surprised me!

A few days ago she texted me a picture of a FedEx slip, addressed to me. It's not my Birthday and I didn't do anything worthy of gifts.
I was intrigued!

Today I walked into the kitchen to see a giant box on the island.

Opening it made me even more curious.

What on Earth could it be?? She said she got me something small!

AHHH! It's from the Steelers!!!!!

Members of the Steelers said congrats to ME!!! AHHHH!

I immediately called her for the details.

Apparently Megan has a friend who volunteers for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Tallahassee.
Well it just so happens that four members of the Steelers volunteer there, too!
Megan asked her friend to get their signatures and send it to her in DC.

She wrote the cute note, framed it in a beautiful frame, and sent it to me!

Isn't this the most amazing and thoughtful gift?!?!

I just love Megan!

Here are the players:
#22: William Gay
#23: DeMarcus Van Dyke
#28: Cortez Allen
#31: Curtis Brown

YAY!!!!

Teddy appreciated the packaging as well and took his toy mouse in there with him:

I have other wedding things to share, but this was definitely the most fun.
How's your week going?

Question

OK friends I have a question to ask of you.

Twice this week I have seen ladies wearing dresses. Now I wasn't checking them out, but they happened to walk in front of me. The first gal was on my way to work, wearing a cute white dress...and a black bra and a black thong.

The second was this morning in my building. Again, I wouldn't have noticed except for the fact that she wore a black thong under a sheer coral dress and walked right in front of me.

I really wanted to tell them! I would have wanted to know!

The first girl was no hope - it was on the street and (I'm assuming) far from her home. The only thing I could offer was helping her finish zipping her dress. (Maybe she was having a rough morning?)

The second gal I feel worse about: she could have gone back upstairs to change.

But what do you say?

"Sorry, I wasn't checking you out, but I couldn't help but notice your dark undies under your light dress!"

I can't do that!

Or can I?

(This is me in my best "deep thoughts" pose)

What would you do? Would you want someone to tell you if you made the same (silly) mistake?

Anyway, enjoy your weekend!

Wedding Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time to link up with me and Kristyn from Chits & Giggles!

Be forewarned: this post has a lot of exclamation points. (!!!!!)

This week is the week where a whirlwind of super fun wedding events start!
  • July 28: missing a shower in Detroit, but attending another shower in the Chicago suburbs
  • August 3: bachelorette in Chicago
  • August 4: helping the bachelorette do her crafting!
  • August 10: another fun bachelorette in Chicago!
  • August 17: wedding in Chicago!
  • August 24: bachelorette in Cincy!
  • Labor Day weekend: OK no wedding stuff, but fun is in store!
  • September 6: wedding in Columbus!
  • September 7: missing the wedding in Chicago (so so so sad about this!) - but for good reason: I'm helping to plan my high school 10-year reunion in my hometown! We're also meeting our photographer that weekend!

Whew!
I am SO ready for this!

One more thing! On July 26 we hit a new milestone: 9 months away from our Big Day!!!!!
According to online check lists we have quite a bit to do this month:
  • Get in wedding day shape - working out 4-5 days a week and doing Weight Watchers!
  • Plan reception menu - will do this with the venue at our visit this October
  • Create wedding website - almost finished! I made it myself (with a little help from my friends)! :)
  • Make a list of family wedding customs to possibly incorporate - we will see what our church will allow, but there is a very special and amazing tradition that I would love to do!
  • Finalize wedding guest list - this keeps me up at night...
  • Envision invitations and stationery - I've envisioned, shopped, toyed with doing them myself, etc.
  • Set up florist appointments to discuss options - oh I've discussed. I've discussed at length. I even made not one, but two, documents outlining what we/I want. I'm such a freak. Oh well, we will decide on a florist very soon!
  • Plan ceremony with officiant - will do this with the priest at our visit this October
  • Start registry - started! Can't wait to continue!
  • Search for ceremony musician - oh I already know who I must have performing that day!
Wow we have some work to do, but this is so fun!

OK, all exclamation points aside, I have to finish this long post with one thought. It's so easy to get wrapped up in all of this fun planning. I know I shouldn't care what all of you think about me, but please rest assured that I make sure every day to take a step back and remember why we're doing this fun planning in the first place: Andrew and I are vowing to be together for the rest of our lives. Yes I'm really excited to celebrate and yes I'm pumped for a honeymoon and to wear my ridiculously amazing gown, but the best part is that after all of this is over, and our wedding is a memory for everyone, I get to look at Andrew as my husband and lifelong partner. God help him. ;)

Yay!!!
(I have to end with exclamation points!)

Happy Friday! Friday's Fancies

Oh my goodness I never thought today would come. What a long week! This weekend is one of the only ones this summer where Andrew and I don't have plans...and I want to keep it that way! I'm pumped for some r&r!

It's been a while since I've linked up with {av} for her Friday's Fancies link-up. This week's theme is Sandal Savvy, where we pick any pair of sandals and create an outfit around it...without worrying about the price tags! Sounds like fun!

This summer I've been light on shopping for myself with wedding season in full swing, but if I had some extra dough to spare I'd certainly treat my feet!

Fridays Fancies Sandal Savvy

Swoon. I want all of these things, but mainly the sandals and maxi. OK fine and the rest of it, too.

What are you up to this weekend?

Wedding Wednesday: 2 event recaps!

Little Bit of Class Little Bit of Sass
<div align="center"><a href="http://www.littlebitofclasslittlebitofsass.com/" title="Little Bit of Class Little Bit of Sass"><img src="http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh513/aukris02/weddingwednesdaybutton_zps1bde4fd6.jpg" alt="Little Bit of Class Little Bit of Sass" style="border:none;" /></a></div>

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time to link up with me and Kristyn from Chits & Giggles!

I have two wedding events to recap: my cousin's wedding in Pittsburgh and my best friend's couple's  shower in Columbus!

But first I need to post these pictures from the wedding weekend because my niece Lizzie is too stinkin' cute and I feel like bragging.

The Friday before the wedding we took Lizzie to Chuck E Cheese for the first time! Her face when we walked in was priceless! She had to touch everything and wouldn't stop smiling. It was awesome!

We also took a trip to see my grandma!!! Fun fun! She's so sweet!

The next day was Kelly's wedding! Kelly is my cousin closest in age on my mom's side.
By the way, I have over 40 first cousin's on my mom's side.

When the doors opened in the church I joined the whole congregation in gasping. And then I got all misty-eyed. Kelly really was a stunning bride.  I can't wait to see the professional photos!

Kelly and Corey got married in the same church, by the same priest, as her parents. The reception was also at the same place as her parents' reception! From start to finish, it was a beautiful celebration. It was wonderful to see someone I've known my entire life tie the knot. It was so special and I LOVED hanging out with my huge family all weekend. It was such a blast!

Oh! I also did my own hair. Here's my shameless plug:

Nice and messy. It was absolutely not what I intended to do for my 'do, but oh well. It was off of my neck.

Now on to this past weekend!!!

Callie and Mike's shower was incredibly fun. First of all, it was a couple's shower so there were tons of amazing people. Second, there were no traditional shower games or opening gifts which was lovely. Third, it was a bbq and two of the bridesmaids made amazing food to accompany it. Check out those cupcakes! Mini grills!!! So cute! Fourth, there were fun games to play in the yard and a bonfire with s'more favors. I should pin this party.

The picture on the left is all of the Theta Nu gals in attendance with Callie looking adorable in the middle! My parents are playing Bags (or Corn Hole, depending on what part of the country you're from) in the photo next to that, followed by baked goods and decor in the smaller images.

I loved the chill party. It was like no other shower I've attended and was made even more special because of how happy it made the bride and groom. I was so happy to be part of it and it made me that much more excited for the fun to come for the happy couple!

What's going on with your wedding events this summer? Have you attended any weddings, showers, bachelorettes or shopping or crafting adventures? Let's hear it! Please link up below!

Hello!

{via}

Oh my goodness, hello! I miss writing! I miss posting photos! I miss reading your blogs!

Life will calm down this week (I think?) and I will devote more time to this dear blog of mine.

I know you could care less about my posting frequency, but I sure do. I love to document things so that I remember them at a later date!

Anyway, I'm feeling good and am loving life, I just haven't made the time to write about it!
I hope you're all doing well!

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time to link up with me and Kristyn from Chits & Giggles!

I have so much to write about but have had no time or energy to do so!

I plan to do a full recap of this past weekend: my cousin Kelly got married in Pittsburgh! She was such a stunning bride! We had the best time celebrating and hanging out with family. I want to go back!

For today's post I only have one thing to share:

One of my very best life-long friends (and one of my bridesmaids!) got engaged last night!!!!!!!

Congrats to Holly and Mike! I can't wait for all of the fun in store for them!!!!

Luckily I'm going home this weekend for Callie's wedding shower, so not only do I get to see Callie and have fun with her wedding event, I also get to see Holly while I'm there to hug her in person! Yay!!!!

Have a great day, everyone!

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time to link up with me and Kristyn from Chits & Giggles!
Please check out her blog if you haven't already! She found her dress! YAY!!!

While I don't have any news to share, I do have a fun topic. Andrew actually provided it when he sent me this link to a Pinterest board devoted to Corgis at weddings.

Do we have a Corgi?
No.

Are we getting a Corgi before our wedding?
No.

Does our church even allow animals?
No.

Do I want any animal, no matter how adorable, near my beautiful gown?
Heck no.

Regardless, you have to admit this is freaking cute:

Really, animals at weddings are super cute:

OK fine. It's a little ridiculous.
Whatever.

All I know is that if our church were to ever allow animals, I know a certain Tuxedo Cat who looks very classy in a bow tie.

Just sayin'.

What do you think about animals at weddings?
