Friday's Fancies: From Work to Play, Hey Hey!

Happy Friday, party people!

Today over at long distance loving the theme is "Costume Prep." My costumes are ridiculous and are in no way fancy. However, go check out {av}'s adorable Vanna White costume inspiration and the rest of the costumes!

Instead, I have a different outfit to share today, or really, one outfit two ways:

When I lived in DC I would have called this a Happy Hour outfit. Now it's more like an "I'm not going the gym after work so I should look nice today" outfit. Either way, it's fun and versatile.

I picked a peplum top because I have recently decided that I enjoy peplum. I hated it at first, and since I still haven't tried on the style I remain skeptical. However, after seeing a few stylish bloggers rock them I now love the peplum top look, especially paired with skinny jeans and high heels. It's an easy casual work atmosphere outfit with flats and a tailored blazer.

I'll keep dreaming that I could pull off the style as well as owning and not falling in those Louboutin's.

Whaddup, Wednesday?

Hey all!

No "back when" pictures to post today. I know you were all holding your breath in anticipation. Sorry to disappoint. (I need a sarcastic font).

I won't talk about the debate last night since I don't chat politics on my blog. I was a Poli Sci major in college and lived in DC for four years so rest assured that I do truly care and love politics, but I also love all of you and don't want our differences to get in the way of a lovely friendship.

All I will say about last night, especially post-debate, is: who needs to watch talking heads debate about the debate when I could just scroll through my Facebook News Feed? That was some colorful commentary last night, so thank you for the entertainment!

Weekend Update: I Watch a Lot of Sports

This weekend was pretty intense.

And by intense I mean that I watched a LOT of sports.

We watched the Steelers lose on Thursday amid incredibly exciting Nats and Tigers victories.

I still don't want to talk about the Nats loss on Friday night. I've never been that upset about a game.

Very few hours later we watched MSU lose.

Needless to say, after watching two frustrating losses so close to each other it was time for a break from sports for a little bit.

So we went to Nordstrom (more on that when my beautiful Frye boots arrive!!) and afterward to see Argo, which was an incredible and suspenseful movie. I am not exaggerating: I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! Go see it!!

Then we caught up on more amazing college football (Go Bucks!) and watched the Tigers almost lose in another intense game.

Then on Sunday we watched the Lions win in OT. Of course it went to overtime, right? Oy.

During the Lions game we held our breath while Felix broke the freefall record...it was the craziest thing I have ever seen.

And then we watched a tense Tigers victory!

Quick recap: game after crazy game after crazy game, a ridiculously intense movie, and a dude jumping from about 24 miles up in the air. Phew.

Thankfully the rest of Sunday we relaxed, went to Mass, I gave myself a mani/pedi, and wore sweatpants. Yay for low-key and cheap weekends!

I got the polish in my September Birchbox, so I thought I should give it a whirl. I love the shiny fall color and the polish seems really durable. I didn't think I would like it since it's not Essie or OPI, but this Color Club "Status Update" color is becoming a new favorite shade!

(P.S. I highly recommend subscribing to Birchbox. It's fun to get beauty samples every month!)

Even though we saw some of our teams lose the past couple of days, it was an awesome weekend overall. I'm very grateful we had the time to relax and watch so many games together!
