A Happy Wife in New Orleans

It's that time of the week again to link up with Joelle from Something Charming and Mary from a Happy Wife in New Orleans!

So, um...big news today:

{P.S. I got the cool silhouette for this image via}

That's right! We set the date with the church!!!

Andrew and I are smiling ear to ear and are so excited!

We are going to get the contract for the reception venue today, too!
But that's another post for next week!

Also, take a look at this gorgeous palette that has inspired me.
Classic and whimsical? Yes, please!

Until next Wednesday, happy planning!

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

I constantly think of how to be a well-rounded and classy lady.
Seems like a tough task at times.

From the beautiful and classic style...

...to manners...

...to at least trying to be polite with hints of sass...

...to just faking it while in public...

...being classy takes effort.

But hey, at the end of the day, at least you'll look good as you stuff your face with fries.

Weekend Update

{Linking up with the lovely Leeann and Sami!}

Hello!

This weekend was very low-key. I wasn't feeling too great so I got some R&R. I barely left the apartment except for the grocery store and Mass, but I definitely kept busy online. I seriously think I was on my computer all weekend.

Of course I was looking at wedding stuff, which was mostly vendor research and assessing venue pros and cons. However, when that overwhelmed me I looked at dresses and Pinterest. That's always soothing and definitely fun.

We made Gina's skinnytaste.com Crock Pot Picadillo Sunday and our place smelled incredible all day. Note: we omitted the raisins and olives from the recipe. Not my cup of tea.

Finally, I updated my blog! It's not a huge revamp, but was a necessary face lift. It took a lot of Googling, but I'm happy with the result. I also dropped the .blogspot.com portion of the site. The title is long enough, so why add the extra characters?

So yeah, this was a quick update! How was your weekend? Did you go out and do anything crazy?

HTML/CSS Help

Hey everyone!

I'm hoping that I can get a little help with my blog from the community.

As you can see, I've changed a few things. I now have a clean, white background, updated my picture and about me, and added the pages nav bar under the header.

Here's my problem: the pages at the top are the blog's font.

I created cute buttons on picmonkey and uploaded them to photobucket so I have the direct and html links.
Here are two of them:

I'd love for those to replace what is currently there right now. All of my Googling is leaving me very frustrated and empty-handed. Do any of you know what to do?

I am proud of myself for what I've done so far (centering the page tabs and the borders, creating the images, etc.), but I think these images linking to the pages would add so much more to my blog. I'm so annoyed I can't figure it out on my own!

Please let me know what you think! If it's a huge ask I will compensate you for your efforts.

Thank you!!!

[Editor's Note: I FINALLY got it!!! I started with this tutorial and then figured out the rest with trial and error. Here's a hint if you try to figure this out for yourself: if the images don't link correctly, just go to: Layout > Edit your html gadget > Click on "Rich Text" to view the images > click on the image > click the hyperlink button > link to the correct page]

Voila!

Wedding Wednesday: Getting the Planning Party Started!

A Happy Wife in New Orleans

Well hello! I just love linking up with Mary at A Happy Wife in NOLA and Joelle at Something Charming!

This past weekend was a whirlwind of planning. Andrew and I drove to my hometown for a jam-packed venue shopathon. I am not exaggerating when I say that we seriously had a blast touring the facilities with my parents!

On Saturday we went to six different venues. We fell in love, like, and almost-loathe for the different spaces. We stopped by another on Sunday and kept researching to ensure we weren't missing anything.
We went to two more on Monday in Columbus on our drive back to Chicago.

Needless to say, my fiance and parents are amazing. We really did have a ton of fun!

We are going to get married at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lancaster, Ohio. I went to school at St. Mary, attended Mass, was an altar server, and musician at this church growing up. In fact, my trips home don't feel quite complete until we go to church!

As of right now we have three venues in the running. All of them are completely different from each other and have their own pros and cons. All meet my dream in one way or another of being classic and whimsical. Who knows if we pick any other venues for the list, but time will tell! Numbers 2 and 3 were not on our list before this weekend!

{Center Image via, others via me!}

We have a little bit of time before we must make our decision, but we're working on it!

Tell me, how did you decide on a venue? Did you make a pro/con list? Was it the place you imagined as a little girl? Was it something totally different than you imagined?

I can't wait to hear what you think!

Please go check out other wedding-related posts at A Happy Wife in NOLA and Something Charming today!

Happy Friday!

Last night was one of those nights where I'm reminded of how awesome Chicago is and how much I love living here.

Also, how cool Andrew is.

He planned for us to go to The Green Mill Lounge in Uptown last night for some live jazz.

Oh my goodness it was a good time!

The history of the bar, the ambiance, the people, the drinks, the dancers, the big band, and of course my date all made for one of our most fun Chicago memories yet!

If you live in Chicago or the next time you visit the Windy City, promise me you'll go on a Thursday night for some swing music. It's seriously incredible. Andrew and I had a blast.

The mission for our next visit? Getting Andrew to spin me around the dance floor!

Enjoy your weekend!

Little Bit of Sass Thursday

Happy Thursday!

No time to post the last couple of days, so here's a vlog of me making fun of myself...shot over the weekend (aka the last time I did my hair).

What do you think? Should I never vlog again or keep 'em coming?

Little Bit of Class Tuesday and Teddyversary!

Happy Tuesday!

I just have a wee bit of class to share today because I have another focus for this post.

First, I have to show off my new pouf!

I won this Lulu and Georgia pouf from Breakfast at Toast's giveaway. I love this pouf. It's comfy, cute, and fits in the apartment very well. It's kind of classy, right?

That was the first and last time I'll wear shoes when I use the pouf. I was just really excited and couldn't wait. Thanks again, Danielle!

OK so now to the rest of my post.

Last year on January 15, Andrew and I made a very big decision, one that has made us extremely happy. We adopted our Teddy!!!

We named Teddy after the Washington National's mascot, Teddy Roosevelt. The presidents race across the field every home game and it's pretty funny. This was the first year that Teddy won a race!

Anyway, Teddy comes running when you call his name and will sit in your lap purring for a long time. He's fun, sweet, and well-behaved.

He shows us the importance of chilling out, goes crazy for catnip, dresses up for the holidays, and loves to soak up the sun.

He is a great workout buddy, helped us move, assists with the laundry, and cheers on our teams.

He's handsome, too!

We just love this fuzzy guy. I guarantee that even if you don't like cats you will like Teddy. He's a cool cat. Happy Teddyversary, buddy!

By the way, we adopted Teddy from Paws in Chicago
If you want a pet, please consider adopting from a no-kill shelter! :)
