That Time I Was Invited to an Event for No Apparent Reason

Quite a title, eh?

Well it was quite an event!

You know when you get real mail and basically toss all of it?

I almost did that with an invite to a Cadillac event.

Mid-toss-to-trash I saw the logo and was intrigued.

Reading the description of free food and drinks and a special registration code further piqued my interest.

Needless to say, I registered.

I don't care why I was invited to a Cadillac event but I was sure going to pretend like I belong there. Andrew, too.

Last night we ventured to The River East Arts Center for the Cadillac Road to Table event
Super swanky venue. I had no idea what to expect.

After signing in we were whisked away to a test drive!

I'm sorry, what?!?!

Andrew drove us to the restaurant for the evening.

Again, what?!?!?!

Yep! We drove down Lakeshore Drive in this lovely vehicle with the city twinkling in the background.
Not too bad for a Thursday.

We drove to Perennial Virant, another swanky location, for a scrumptious meal.

There were appetizers and fruity cocktails, a tour of the kitchen with the chef and a three-course meal paired with wines. I basically rolled out of there.

Oh and after my roll, I hopped in an Escalade to be escorted back to the River East Arts Center. What did we find there? Oh, more cars and desserts. Wowsah.

So why did I get this invite in the mail?
I wish I could tell you.

We sat next to a doctor and a scientist couple.
We were probably the youngest couple in attendance.
I walk to work and might drive a handful of times in a year.
Andrew drives his car once a week. Maybe. To the grocery store.
I'm also in debt for the rest of my life (thanks, Georgetown).

Yep, no idea why we were invited but we sure had a good time.

While drooling over the new cars that will be officially released this fall one of the saleswomen described all of the different engines to us. I had no idea what she was talking about but I nodded and said the "oohs" and "ahhs" in the right places. After my eyes glazed over she asked what engine we prefer.

My response: "Go big or go home, right?"

You can't take me anywhere.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Wednesday everyone!
It's time to link up with me and Kristyn from Chits & Giggles!

I am SO excited to post right now!

I finished the wedding website!

Yep! I made it! I figured that if I can make my own stuff for my blog that I could do it for a wedding website. I asked my co-worker for some html help when I was lost about the javascript on the "Photos" page and another co-worker made this beautiful header:

Isn't that cool? He took a photo of us on Michigan Avenue from my first visit to Chicago and illustrated it! I LOVE it!

Aside from that I did the rest!
Interested in seeing it? Comment on this post with your email address and I will send you the link!
(I get too much spam on this site so I don't want creepos checking out our wedding website!)

Wedding Wednesday

Little Bit of Class Little Bit of Sass
<div align="center"><a href="http://www.littlebitofclasslittlebitofsass.com/" title="Little Bit of Class Little Bit of Sass"><img src="http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh513/aukris02/weddingwednesdaybutton_zps1bde4fd6.jpg" alt="Little Bit of Class Little Bit of Sass" style="border:none;" /></a></div>

Happy Wednesday everyone!
It's time to link up with me and Kristyn from Chits & Giggles!

It occurred to me last week that I never shared how I asked ladies to be part of the bridal party!
Silly me.

I did share a while ago how I asked my sister to be Matron of Honor and how we asked Lizzie to be our Flower Girl, but here's a quick refresher:

About a week after Andrew's amazing proposal, they were scheduled to visit. I knew I wanted to ask them in person so it was the perfect time. For Lizzie it was easy. The day after Andrew proposed in DC I hopped over to Eastern Market and bought her a handmade flower headband from one of the vendors.

When we asked she shyly and sweetly said "Yes!" and then wore the headband proudly.

For Kate I got a little more creative, thanks to the inspiration from Callie and picture hunting from my parents.

That's Kate holding me as a newborn!
She can add a picture of us from the wedding in the bottom frame.

Now on to my bridesmaids!

Andrew and I decided to have 5 attendants on each side and Lizzie as our flower girl. While I love all sizes of bridal parties and respect each bride's choices, having more than 5 on each side is too big for us.

The biggest thing for me was asking each one of them in person, which was tough to do since they live in different states. However, we had plenty of time so it was fun to slowly ask.

I was worried at first about only having five bridesmaids for the following reasons:

  • I have been in six weddings and am about to be in my seventh in a couple of weeks...and my eighth next summer!!
  • I was in a sorority.
  • I have always surrounded myself with amazing women who I call dear friends, from elementary school to today.
  • I have lived in four different cities in my 28 years.
Only 5? Oh no! What's a girl to do?!?!

Well first of all, I knew my sister and sister-in-law would be two of them. I did not feel obligated whatsoever to ask them. I knew I wanted them at my side since they are not only family, they are two of my dearest friends in the world and I love them so much. Plus, they are fantastic role models! They're awesome!

So that leaves me three.

While I wanted to ask about 10 girls, I knew the most logical thing to do was choose one from each stage of life: one from childhood, one from college, and one from grad school. In my mind these three ladies are representatives!

Here's what I did:

I got the bracelets from The Shine Project's Threads brand and tied them with that fun saying. I bought a bracelet for myself, too, obviously.

All of the girls cutely wore them (without me asking them to!) when they came in to shop for the dress weekend, too!

And yes, they all came in to shop from around the country! How amazing is that?!?!

Want to know when I asked the other four gals?
OK twist my arm, I'll share.

I asked my sister-in-law at Christmas. It was one of her gifts. We squealed a little bit. Then my brother made fun of us, but whatever. We were excited!!

I asked my hometown girl (Holly) in January when we were in Ohio visiting and venue shopping. I've known Holly since we were toddlers and we were even neighbors growing up! This girl and I can go months without talking and then pick right up where we left off. We can gab for hours about nothing and everything and she just plain gets me, inside and out. She is one of the funniest and most caring people I know. I'm in her wedding next July, too!

I asked my college friend (Callie) when she was visiting Chicago in January. She asked me to be in her wedding at the same time! We can't keep anything from each other so we knew it was happening, but the way each of us did it was a surprise, which was fun!! Callie and I talk almost every day and we were roommates for a year at Otterbein. Her friendship made moving away from home easier. I tear up thinking about what a good friend Callie is to me. She truly is a wonderful person!

Asking my grad school friend was super fun, too, but I had to wait forever to do it! That was torture! She came to visit for St. Patrick's Day so I knew I had to do it then. We went to the Green Mill after we picked her up from the airport and I asked her at the bar haha. Typical. If you recall, Megan is the lass who sent me the Steelers signatures a few weeks ago. Megan and I met at orientation for our program at Georgetown and we were inseparable from that day on. We got each other through school, from coffee and library dates to early morning study sessions...and of course partying. We did a lot of that, too.

Know what else is awesome?
Andrew is good friends with all of them, too! I absolutely love that!

What's going on with you this week?

Weekend Update!

Mingle 240

[Linking up with Sami, Leeann and Meg :)]
Another great weekend is in the books!
Friday night we went to Maureen's rehearsal dinner. I loved it! It was a bbq in their back yard. So much food, family and fun!
Saturday was her big day! If you aren't familiar, Maureen is my Little from Theta Nu and was one of the only people I knew when I moved to Chicago. Needless to say, we became even better friends after college and I love her dearly! I was so excited to celebrate her wedding because she deserves the best - and got the best! Her husband Mac is awesome!!! They were beaming the whole time and their happiness was definitely contagious. She of course looked stunning, too!
That morning Daniela and I helped to decorate the picnic grove that hosted the ceremony and reception. I am not exaggerating when I say that we had SO much fun and the weather was perfect. Yay!
We also changed at Panera and did our makeup in the car. Quite an adventure!
Here's our red light selfie:
Andrew cleaned up real nice, too!
Here's more from the day:
Here's my favorite that Andrew took:
Beautiful, right?
All of Maureen's special touches were evident: from her mother's wedding dress that she repurposed for herself, to the bridesmaid dresses she made, the taco and pie bars, the homemade bunting and other DIY decor, etc. It was such an amazing day!
Then there was an after party at Studio Be! I was too busy dancing to take a bunch of photos, but here's one!
Sunday was amazing. In my mind, Sundays are made for Mass, grocery shopping, lounging on the couch, catching up with family and/or friends on the phone, wedding planning and making a nice meal. Luckily we did allll of those things AND face-timed with Lizzie and Kate!

How was your weekend?

Friday's Fancies: Running Around

Happy Friday!!!!

YAY YAY YAY!

First of all, my parents have been married 38 years as of today! Happy Anniversary to them!!!

Second, I'm so excited for this weekend because Maureen is getting married! Tonight is the rehearsal and tomorrow is the big day! Woohoo!

Sunday I plan to work on our wedding stuff and relax to ramp up for next week's fun.

What a busy month, amIright?

Third, I have to brag about a deal I just got.
I just bought a faux leather jacket from Forever 21 for $13.50 after it was on sale and I got an extra 10% off with a promo code from RetailMeNot. Even if it looks awful I won't be upset. That's just an awesome deal.

OK back to my regularly scheduled post!

Today I'm linking up with {av} for Friday's Fancies. The theme this week is to create an outfit around weekend errands. I always see gals about town looking fabulous even though I know they are just crossing items off of their to-do list. I never look good when I'm doing that and it's a silly goal of mine to make sure that I'm more presentable in public, even when doing routine things.

I would love to wear something along these lines:

Friday's Fancies Running Around Town

What would you wear?
What are you up to this weekend? Whatever it may be I hope you enjoy it! :)
