Friday's Fancies

Happy Friday! I'm linking up today with {av} from long distance loving for her weekly Friday's Fancies!  In terms of fashion all I can think about lately is what to wear for our engagement shoot in Chicago in October. I'm picturing colorful leaves, crisp weather and the beautiful backdrop of our city. But what's a girl (on a budget) to wear? I definitely want a classic look: when I look back at these photos down the road I want to still enjoy them. If I cringe at the style choice then that's a bad thing. While I contemplate that obstacle, here's a little something I would sport if I could:

Friday's Fancies: Running Around

Happy Friday!!!!

YAY YAY YAY!

First of all, my parents have been married 38 years as of today! Happy Anniversary to them!!!

Second, I'm so excited for this weekend because Maureen is getting married! Tonight is the rehearsal and tomorrow is the big day! Woohoo!

Sunday I plan to work on our wedding stuff and relax to ramp up for next week's fun. 

What a busy month, amIright?

Third, I have to brag about a deal I just got.
I just bought a faux leather jacket from Forever 21 for $13.50 after it was on sale and I got an extra 10% off with a promo code from RetailMeNot. Even if it looks awful I won't be upset. That's just an awesome deal.

I always see gals about town looking fabulous even though I know they are just crossing items off of their to-do list. I never look good when I'm doing that and it's a silly goal of mine to make sure that I'm more presentable in public, even when doing routine things.

Oh my goodness I never thought today would come. What a long week! This weekend is one of the only ones this summer where Andrew and I don't have plans...and I want to keep it that way! I'm pumped for some r&r! 

It's been a while since I've linked up with {av} for her Friday's Fancies link-up. This week's theme is Sandal Savvy, where we pick any pair of sandals and create an outfit around it...without worrying about the price tags! Sounds like fun! 

This summer I've been light on shopping for myself with wedding season in full swing, but if I had some extra dough to spare I'd certainly treat my feet!

Today's theme is all about the Bling for {av}'s Friday's Fancies on long distance loving.

I immediately thought about emeralds. I am always drawn to that gorgeous green.

I kept it simple with the dress and clutch because when you wear Bvlgari you don't mess around with distracting details.
Also, this particular necklace was apparently a wedding gift for Elizabeth Taylor in 1964.
I mean, wow. Slightly ridiculous.

I thought the Miu Miu pumps were simple enough but played to the diamonds with the shimmer. The unexpected glitter makes my sparkle-loving heart go pitter-patter.
Also, the description says the pumps are dipped in glitter.
Um hi. We should be friends, Net-a-Porter-description-writer.

Friday's Fancies: Lovely Layers

Yay!!! It's Friday!!!!!

I love my layers here in Chicago, so obviously I'm participating this week in {av}'s Friday's Fancies on long distance loving.

Friday's Fancies: Layered by mkrulia featuring fleece lined tights

OK so a dress is a bold choice in Chicago.

However, those tights are lined with fleece. The dress is a long sweater and I'd wear something under it. The coat is long and goes up to the face. The boots are high.
Hence, I'd probably sweat in this getup.

Normally I wear a scarf, but the coat doesn't look like it allows much room for one. While I love my Hunter wellies I severely want those Sorels. They just look so cozy! I've also been eyeing the Kate Spade mittens and earrings for some time. The Rag & Bone hat is calling my name, too. I have a North Face coat that looks nothing like the chic one pictured in this ensemble. Mine looks and feels like I'm walking in a sleeping bag...and I LOVE it. Seriously, investing in non-flattering outerwear was one of the smartest things I've ever done.

Anyway, I want this outfit.

This week on long distance loving, the Friday's Fancies theme is Pantone's Spring 2013 color: emerald.

I just love this color. Not only is it my birthstone, it's also just plain fun.    The Poppy Red, Grayed Jade, and Monaco Blue also caught my eye.

Today I focused my outfit on just the emerald hue.

Friday's Fancies: New Year, New You

Happy Friday!

Today over at long distance loving the theme pays homage to New Years Resolutions...or what we think 2013 will hold for us, symbolized through style.

Well, I don't have resolutions, per say.

Typically the numero uno resolution for most folks is to shed some pounds off the 'ol rear. 

I hear ya.

I mean, it's a life-long goal of mine to lose weight. I already workout a ton, so that's not the issue. I eat pretty healthy and rarely drink (in excess), but it seems that anything yummy likes to linger on my bum longer than I would like. Meh, there are worse things in the world than focusing on my fanny.

So instead, I'll steer toward what is a little bit more in my control. 2013 will be full of fun, from planning our wedding to celebrating other weddings with family and friends. It will be challenging, as I have goals I want to reach for my career (I love my job!). It will stretch the wallet, too.

It will also be stressful, for all of the aforementioned reasons. 

What I aim to do in 2013 is to not sweat the small stuff and get lost in the details. 

I'm talking big picture stuff, friends. 

Therefore, my contribution to the Friday's Fancies link-up is an outfit full of small details that are, in my opinion, effortlessly put together. 

That's how I want to be in 2013: appearing like I have it all together no matter what details are swimming around in my head!

So I was a little busy (!!!) last Friday and didn't get to post my outfit for Friday's Fancies on long distance loving.
