Back When Wednesday!

Good morning!

Rachel from Can't Google Everything introduced my new favorite blog theme: "Back When Wednesdays." This is a chance to share some pictures from my younger, sassier, sillier days. The second I read her first post I knew I had to link up the next time!

But then I forgot about it.

So unfortunately my pictures are not from my teen or even pre-teen years. Yet. Those will come for sure. I have yet to grow out of my awkward stage (fingers crossed it happens before I hit 30!), and the pictures today are from my very first Facebook photo album, dating back to 2005. You will see that not much has changed. In these pictures I was a sophomore at Otterbein College. I lived in my sorority house. I was 19 and 20. This flashback is going to be fun :)

Let's start this off in the most ridiculous way possible. Here my Little and I are sampling the headwear at a Niagra Falls gift shop.

Here I am celebrating my 20th birthday with one of my signature dance moves accompanied by four extra chins and an ill-fitting shirt.

Laura, Carmen, and I at the Sphinx Formal.
"Little in the middle!!"
[At Otterbein we have local chapters. Sphinx is Sigma Delta Phi.]

Some of my best gals at the Rascal Flatts concert. One of many!

In the picture below, some of my friends and I were in Canada, legally allowed to drink at 20 years old. Sometimes pillow fights just happen. The matching jerseys were a plus.

Greek Week...this was the year Theta Nu couldn't participate because we got in too much trouble. Naturally we caused a ruckus in the front by the stage. Yours truly was front and center.

And, finally, my two best friends! Look how young!!!

I can't wait to share more from back when! Thanks, Rachel!

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

Photobucket

Here's a little class for your Tuesday:

This classic bedroom design is simple yet refined (and uncluttered!). I would feel so relaxed in this space! I'm not so sure I need three straw hats (in the same color), though.

I love this look.

This swimsuit is both sassy with the deep V and classy with the colors and bow. I like to dream that I could rock this with my pale skin...and in my dream I'd be a size 4...aww, aren't dreams fun??

Pure words of wisdom, Ms. Head.

Weekend Flashback

I really did not want this weekend to end! Here is a collage of the fun!

{collage c/o PicMonkey}

The weekend started with some Birthday Cake jello shots with co-workers. It was so dangerously tasty that I had to hold back from indulging in more so I could run after work!

Andrew and I set off to Saugatuck, Michigan for some fun in the sun at his aunt and uncle's cottage on the lake. It is such a treat to visit the cottage: from the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere to the delicious food, we find ourselves loving every second and dreading the departure. It was the first time I've been away since Christmas, so a quick trip was just the recharge I needed.

Pictures:
Top: the beach on Saturday. We lounged (under an umbrella!) for hours in the afternoon
Middle left: us after ice cream in town!
Middle right: we bought a grill for our balcony on our way back to Chicago yesterday! We've wanted one since we moved here and found one at a great price!
Bottom left: the aforementioned jello shot, topped with whipped cream! So delicious (and potent!)!!
Bottom middle: Andrew's aunt made me delicious fat free lattes after our morning walks along the shore on Saturday and Sunday. She's beyond amazing!!
Bottom right: Andrew's cousin/my dear, wonderful friend Daniela and I posing after ice cream in town.

I want to go back!! One full day is not enough time to do everything I wanted in that charming town!

Soooo...Shoes???

This is a phrase I would say during one of my DC internship programs. Talking about politics nonstop was exhausting, so I would turn to my fellow style-loving girlfriends during heated debates that only 20-year olds can have (read: annoying and one-sided) and either whisper or exclaim, "Soooo...shoes?" to hopefully change the subject from politics to parties/fashion/food/shopping/you get the picture. What? I was 20.

Anyway, this morning I read a post from one of my favorite blogs Born & Bread, a style blog by two gorgeous New Yorkers. The authors are now Fashion Insiders for a new (to me) shoe site called Sole Society. I thought nothing of it until I scrolled through Lauren's pictures of her shoes, the price, and then the discount. I rushed to Sole Society like someone was going to take the shoes away from me. Within minutes I justified my purchase (cute, flat, will wear often, can wear on my walk to work, free shipping, $15 off, etc.) and bought them! What a great way to start a Friday!

Say hello to my new shoes!

Happy Friday, all!

Oh and P.S. if I would have seen this site when I was 20 I probably would've bought one of the 4.5-inch heel monstrosities on the Sole Society site. Apparently growing up means wearing flats.

Little Bit of Sass Thursday

Today's sass-piration is courtesy of my new favorite Tumblr site, #SOYEAHDUH, a site featuring gifs regarding the author's experiences in Chicago. Needless to say, her entries crack me up!

So, thanks to her inspiration about being pale at North Avenue Beach, here is my rendition of our upcoming beach weekend:

Fun with Google

My co-worker said today that Google added a feature to its Image Search. You can drag and drop an image from your desktop into the search bar (or just upload one) and hit the camera image. Then images populate that look similar! Pretty interesting, especially if you can't find that cake recipe or the exact polka dot top you want. What would I use it for? Obviously I would upload a picture of myself to see if Google thinks I look like a celebrity. Here are some visuals to help you out (because I know you want to do it too!)

Here's the photo I submitted:

Here is what Google thinks I look like:

I love that I look like a weird child in a tiara or like a child about to stuff her face with cake. I'd say it's pretty accurate. Try it today!

Fridays Fancies: Outfit Crush

Happy Friday!!

Today over at {long distance loving} the lovely {av} is linking us up with each other and our outfit crushes. You know how much I peruse pinterest for inspiration, so this week it was tough to pick just one outfit to recreate! My board entitled My (Wannabe) Style is full of amazing get-ups that I attempt to emulate. Here's one that strikes my fancy today:

Lately I am drawn to fitted skirts with a loose silk shirt tucked into the skirt. It's feminine and flattering and oh so very me. I especially love lace skirts, and while the above look may work for chillier days, there are plenty of ways to style this for the summer heat.

For example:

Friday's Fancies: Outfit Crush!

Picture this top bloused loosely over the skirt and the belt peeks out so it's more of an accent than a focal point. Like how I added a little sass with the leopard print? I love the soft colors in this outfit, but I will admit, the pinterest picture is much better! Whatever, I would be happy to wear either one!

Have a great weekend!!

Weekly Posting Now?

Well goodness gracious what a bad blogger I have been this last week. I actually have really good excuses! Let me explain in pics and prose:

First, I didn't post on Thursday of last week because, well, I have no idea why. I either forgot or was too lazy. Guilty!

Second, last Friday I was in a horrible mood because I didn't lose any weight again. Fridays are my weigh-in days for Weight Watchers. I never want to post when I'm a negative Nancy, so I decided to forgo the 2012 equivalent of feel-bad-about-myself high school AIM away messages of sad song lyrics. Remember those? I may have felt like posting the lyrics to "Everybody Hurts" by REM, but alas I am not a teen. Instead of complaining online I whined to Andrew and barely ate anything all day. Progress?

Annnnyway...

Saturday we drove up north a bit for my future sister-in-law's bridal shower! It was great to meet her family and spend some quality time with my mom. In all honesty it was the first bridal shower where we didn't eat tiny sandwiches and I didn't have (too many) awkward conversations...meaning I really had a great time! The only game (!!!) was a Mad Libs game. My mom and I were crying from laughing so hard!

Me and the Bride-to-Be!

Later on we went to the Wilmette Beach for the view, the company, and the drinks. Look at the gorgeous sunset with the sailboat! How picturesque!!

On Sunday my parents brought us a Birthday cake!

Monday was slightly exciting: we went to a Conan taping!!!! He's in Chicago this week and we were lucky to get tickets! Andrew's boss gave us her extra pair and we couldn't pass it up! Look at this line to pick up the tickets! Crazy!

The whole experience was one to remember. I will obviously have this picture to remember how I sweat in line beforehand. Lovely.

We sat near the stage by the band!

The show was hysterical and we got to meet Mark Pender!

Finally, I didn't post the previous two nights because we graced the Wrigley bleachers for the Cubs v. Tigers games.

Here was Tuesday:

And here was Wednesday:

Gorgeous!! I love the weather right now in the Windy City!
