Little Bit of Class Tuesday

It's been a whole week since I last blogged! Goodness that's too long between posts.

Quick recap:

Megan came for the weekend (more on that later!) and I asked her to be a bridesmaid (more on that later, too!)!!

St. Patrick's Day was super fun!

I hate that Google Reader is leaving us in July, so please do the whole Bloglovin' thing. I added the button to my sidebar and have imported all of your blogs to my Bloglovin'. I enjoy the app, too.

It's March and it's in the 20s with snow in the forecast. Not cool, Chicago, not cool.

I'm planning the wedding dress shopping weekend and Dana is helping! Can't wait to blog about it soon!!

I'm super tired and busy. So much to do!

OK here's one classy photo to stay true to my theme:

The outfit screams Spring and I like it.

Have a good one!

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

Hey everyone!

Could this week crawl any slower? Sheesh!

Let's have some class to get us through, shall we?

Over the weekend I was reminded of how rude people can be on public transportation.
So I consulted Emily Post
Of course she has answers for common commuting courtesy.

Honestly, it all makes sense, but people really don't do it. It's so simple!

I know I'm supposed to be classy here, but the snark could come out on this topic.
I'm not going to dive deeper into Emily's instructions.

...but I will say one thing: please don't eat. Just don't. Think of the nastiness, first of all. Public transportation is disgusting at best. Do you really want to eat while riding on it?
Second, think of your fellow hungry man. I certainly don't want to smell your delicious fries when I'm on my way home from the gym.
Third, if it stinks like fish or something then save it. Preferably hide it and stand away from me. Pretty please.

OK I'll stop there. Do you have anything to add?

Enjoy your day!

Weekend Update

Another nice weekend in the books!

...which means, it's time to link up with Sami and Leeann :)

Friday after work I spoke with four potential wedding photographers...while drinking Guinness and eating Chipotle between calls. Classy.

Saturday we watched Georgetown grab a huge win against Syracuse, securing their #1 spot in the Big East. Hoya Saxa!

{via}

We also enjoyed some delicious lattes, thanks to our Nespresso maker and Aeroccino.

I highly recommend Nespresso. It's saved us so much money and is much more tasty than Starbucks!

Oh and for the health-conscious, that latte above is one point on Weight Watchers!
(...and the beer and Chipotle I had the previous night were also WW-friendly, I can assure you!)

Then I spoke with two more photographers and did some yoga.

I ended the day with my co-worker's housewarming party! So much fun with such wonderful gals!

Sunday I chatted with the last two potential photographers.
This week I spoke with 18 over the phone. That's not the total number that I've researched, either.
All I know is that we better have really amazing wedding photos, darn it!

Sunday ended with Mass, a MSU win, a trip to the grocery store, and the most delicious Sloppy Joes I have ever had!!!

{via}

Seriously, Gina outdid herself on this one. 7 points of delicious-ness?!?! YUM!
I have to give Andrew credit, too. He made all of it while I was on the phone.
Nice work, Chef Andrew!!

Oh and here is a picture of Teddy.
Full disclosure, I took it a while ago, but he does this all of the time and it's cute.

So proper.

How was your weekend?

Little Bit of Sass Thursday!

Before I head off to a clothing swap with a few co-workers (read: drink wine while folding the clothes we'll donate later), I had to do a quick post.

I saw this on Megan's Oh, How Pinteresting! post from yesterday and really did LOL, I promise!

So true! I definitely write lol when I should write salts!

Have a good one!

Wedding Wednesday!

Something Charming
{Linking up with Joelle from Something Charming!}

Hello!

I mentioned last week how we're on the hunt for our photographer. I have many phone meetings this week to narrow down some options. All of their portfolios with traditional posed images mixed with artistic candids and trendy poses I've seen on Pinterest got me thinking about wedding trends.

I found the below pin and wondered what 2013 (and our wedding in 2014!) will bring in terms of "what's hot" for weddings.

Interesting, right?

I'm still in the early stages of planning so I can't relate to everything on here yet. However, the "Ideas" section doesn't mention Pinterest? Really?

What do you think?
Are you adopting any of these trends?
What trends do you think will stay or go in 2013 (or 2014)?

I think more couples will choose to forego traditional registries and instead have one geared toward their honeymoon. Also, I have a feeling formal invitations will decrease as e-cards gain some traction. I know quite a few brides who only have their website and send that link to people invited to the wedding so they can RSVP, too. We're pretty traditional and will have a registry and paper invitations, but I'm always curious to see what other people do!

Can't wait to read what you think!

Friday's Fancies: Bling!

{via}

Happy Friday!

Today's theme is all about the Bling for {av}'s Friday's Fancies on long distance loving.

I immediately thought about emeralds. I am always drawn to that gorgeous green.

Fridays Fancies Bling

Swoon!

I kept it simple with the dress and clutch because when you wear Bvlgari you don't mess around with distracting details.
Also, this particular necklace was apparently a wedding gift for Elizabeth Taylor in 1964.
I mean, wow. Slightly ridiculous.

I thought the Miu Miu pumps were simple enough but played to the diamonds with the shimmer. The unexpected glitter makes my sparkle-loving heart go pitter-patter.
Also, the description says the pumps are dipped in glitter.
Um hi. We should be friends, Net-a-Porter-description-writer.

Be sure to check out other bling-ed out posts on long distance loving today!

[Oh and I should note that I felt really guilty while writing this post. Fine jewelry is so disgustingly expensive!!!]

Enjoy your weekend!

Wedding Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

This weekend Andrew and I started the fun task of sorting through the ridiculous amount of photographers in the Columbus area. Wowsah. So many!

So far we are considering photographers who are obviously in our budget and have affordable packages for 10 hours/all day.

We're also looking through recommended photographers from my sorority sisters' weddings (heck yeah word of mouth!). Our process so far is to scroll through websites and the portfolios therein, asses available packages, and decide whether or not we want to contact them for further information.

...and I have to stop being a snob about the websites. Yes, I do web analytics for a living and work with incredibly talented web designers so I get particularly frustrated when I see junk on the screen trying to sell me. I need to get over it. However, web design is a good investment! Sheesh!
[End soap box.]

But yeah, any photographer can post pretty pictures on their site. How do you know who to choose? I'm thinking I should Yelp all of these photographers and see if they're rated anywhere like The Knot or WeddingWire...which means they cost more, right?

Do you have any tips on finding the right photographer?

I read Le Magnifique Blog's post on the subject. The author, Damaris, provided tips and I created a list of what to look for when hiring a photographer:

I also read the below tips for photographers on Pinterest, so at least I can see if the photographer will do these things:

Do you have anything to add? How did you choose yours? Since we won't meet any of them in person until we hire one do you have any questions that we should ask them over the phone?

Thanks for your input!
