90/20

First of all, Happy Easter!!! I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend. My parents were here and we had a blast!

So, what do I mean with "90/20" as this blog post title? Well, it's a pretty exciting combination. Read to the end for pictures!

If you have followed me a while you know that I have consistently struggled with my weight - and while (in my humble and sarcastic opinion) I manage to rock some curves, I would rather not.

I have teeter-tottered with Weight Watchers since 2006 when I started going into my senior year at Otterbein. I lost 35 pounds as a senior and in 2007 I was the thinnest I had been since probably fifth grade. I wish I was exaggerating. Then I moved to DC, and, to put it plainly, had a lot of fun while simultaneously packing on the pounds. In 2011 Andrew and I joined Weight Watchers together and were very successful. Then we moved to Chicago, stopped counting points, and instead increased our sampling of Chicago cuisine.

After a few months we decided that enough was enough: it's time to get back to a healthy lifestyle. We have multiple weddings to attend this summer and gosh darn it I am determined to not wince when I see pictures of myself at these weddings. So, since we've been successful with it before and since it is the only way I have found to keep me disciplined, it was back to Weight Watchers at the start of 2012.

Thankfully, I love to workout almost as much as I love to eat, so exercising regularly isn't much of a sacrifice. Just as important, my friend gave me his copy of P90X for free. A couple of sorority sisters told me about their success with the program so I thought: hey, it's free, it's worked for my friends, I can't afford a gym membership, the gym at work is awkward, so what do I have to lose? WEIGHT perhaps? heh. I'm so good at bad jokes.

Once 2012 hit I was back on Weight Watchers and I started this intense P90X workout program 7 days a week.

After 90 days of both, I lost 20 pounds.

Sure I'm proud of myself, but here's the thing: I have never reached my goal weight before, and I have another 32 pounds to lose until I reach it. Sigh. I know the total (52 pounds) is a small person, but my goal weight is in the heavy range for my age and height according to Weight Watchers. And after trying on dresses yesterday, I think another 32 pounds would be good for me to shred. Don't worry, I'm being healthy, listening to my body, enjoying my life, and am not depriving myself completely from foods I love. I also don't have a strict deadline. I do, however, have this blog to keep me accountable. And pictures. I've been taking progress pictures, so please look below.

The image on the left was New Years Eve. The picture on the right was Easter weekend. About 90 days between, and 20 pounds lighter! If you don't notice a difference, don't worry, I don't really either. Trust me, though, jeans don't lie, and they're telling me my hard work has paid off.

Curious about my opinion on the pros and cons of Weight Watchers and P90X? Stay tuned for my post tomorrow and I will tell you my thoughts!

PS can anyone teach me how to create tables with images in html? I'm striking out. Thanks!
