Fall To-Dos

Happy Wednesday!

I forgot to take some pictures from "back when" for my usual Wednesday link-up. Oops.

Thankfully, Callie posted a Fall To-Do List (apparently inspired by Katie at Keep Calm and Carry On), so I thought I would follow suit. I would like to do all of this by the end of the year.

Financials

1. Spend less, save more. I need to afford plane tickets to see my family and Andrew's family over the holiday season. Need. I also need to buy presents.

2. Only go out to lunch once a work week. This basically means I can have Subway once a week because I shouldn't spend more money than that.

3. Only eat out once a weekend. We'll see how well this works. It most likely won't. Chicago has some fine eats and I sure do like sampling them.

4. No more Groupons to gyms. I have enough classes at Core Fitness for a while. Variety will have to wait. (Although I REALLY want to check out the gym across the street from our building!!)

5. Only buy coffee when we run out at home. Andrew's coffee is awesome and everything else is not that good anyway. Sorry Starbucks lovers, you haven't had anything until you've had an Andrew brew.

Exercise (and fine, I guess Eating Right)

1. I mean, so far so good. My goal on New Years Eve was to not look the same to ring in 2013. Heck, I've kept off the 20 pounds I lost during the 90 days of P90X and am more toned than ever now that I have a trainer. However, boot camp just ended (silly Daylight Savings and chilly mornings!). I still workout with my trainer once a week and attend a Train Like Jane class at least once a week, so I have to do P90X to fill up my time the rest of my workout days. I'm limiting myself to 5 a week to give my knees some rest. Fingers crossed I keep it up.

2. We eat really well when we cook...and we are kind of awesome in the kitchen, so we need to do this more and eat out less.

3. I've been good about not snacking at work, especially the free stuff in the kitchen a mere stone's throw from my desk. Must keep this up. It's tough.

Work and Play

1. Get certified in Google Analytics. This is no easy feat with my work load, but I need to do it to be a more well-rounded analyst. I don't want to be pigeon-holed in social metrics (even though it's fun and always changing!).

2. Save up to get a pair of cognac boots. This is kind of a need since my current pairs are completely beat up.

3. Long weekend to DC: booked!!! Can't wait!

4. Don't hibernate. It's not winter yet.

5. However, stay at home to watch MSU/Lions/Steelers. We have a stockpile of beer and a crock pot. We'll be just fine.

6. However x 2: get to a bar on a Sunday so we don't forget our roots lol

7. Cheer on the Nats and Tigers in the playoffs! SOOO excited for this! We would love to make it to a game, buuuuut it probably won't happen. Womp womp.

8. Head back to the Cheese Castle and Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Farm in Wisconsin. We're going a Saturday in October! Cider and Cider Donuts (and cheeeeese) here we come!

What about all of you? Any goals before the end of 2012?

Friday's Fancies: Crushing on Chicago

Happy Friday, party people!

Today at long distance loving the theme is to recreate an outfit we've seen - and fallen for - across the interwebs.  Any look at my My (Wannabe) Style board on Pinterest will tell you that I have quite a crush on fall fashion. Sweater? Blazer? Boots? Belt? In various colors? Swoon.

How to choose just one look?

Well, I added another variable on Wednesday.

You see, our good friend from DC paid us a visit and we went to the Hancock Building for after work drinks. During sunset. Let me paint a picture.

OK well first I have to share the swizzle stick from Andrew's drink. It was in the shape of the building. So cute.

And now for amazing pictures from the best view in the city: the women's restroom of the Hancock Building:

The second one is my absolute favorite.

OK so back to Friday's Fancies, because that's why I'm linking up, after all.

I created an outfit inspired by my pins on my My (Wannabe) Style Pinterest Board as if I was going back to the Hancock for more sunset sipping.
Friday's Fancies Chicago Crush

My fall color crush is wine. Funny, 'cuz I enjoy a nice glass in the fall, too (OK fine, I love wine year-round). I love wine pieces paired with leopard print as well. Hence, my outfit. Sure it doesn't look like anything from my board, but oh well, it has similar themes: jeans, cinched waist, leopard print, wine. Sounds good.

So what do you think?

Have a great weekend!

Friday's Fancies!

Happy Friday, party people!

The rain today isn't ruining my parade for I am PUMPED for the weekend! Why, you ask? Well, tonight Andrew and I are going to rock out with Bruce Springsteen at Wrigley Field. Tomorrow we're driving to north of Detroit to celebrate our friends' wedding, and Sunday we will have brunch with another friend before our adventure driving home and cheering on the Steelers!! I'm tired thinking about boot camp Monday morning, BUT it will be worth it!

Let's fast-forward to 5:30 pm, 'm kay? Please and thankyouvurrymuch.

Today over at {av}'s long distance loving blog the theme is the first day of school. The look she put together is so stinking cute you need to check it out! If I were to start grad school over again (I shudder at the thought!), I would LOVE to trot around the Georgetown Hilltop in the get-up pictured below. Sure, it's wayyyy too layered for the first day of school, but it's definitely fitting for the fall in DC. Or anywhere. I would like to wear this soon in Chicago, school or not.

Head on over to long distance loving and check out the other outfits!
Hope you have a fun weekend!

Falling for Friday!

Hi Readers!

I know I haven't written much lately. Have you ever been at a loss for words? I just haven't had much to say lately. Everything has been going well, and I have no gripes or praises. Today I wanted to write to wish all of you a happy Fall! I love this season. Between watching football, getting cozy in scarves, sweaters and boots, watching the leaves change, and cooking more often, I am a happy gal. Plus, it is comforting that I can walk a while before sweating. That's always pleasant.

Also, I weighed in this week and last and my weight didn't change an ounce from last week to this week. How far do I have until I reach my goal weight? 34.3 pounds. Maureen gave me great advice recently: don't demonize food. I didn't realize that's what I was doing. I felt guilty for eating, and that shouldn't happen! How silly of me. So today's a new day, the beginning of my new weight week, and the start of Fall. Wish me luck!
