Little Bit of Class Tuesday

Oh winter.

I just love winter fashion.

Well, let's just say that I love the idea of winter fashion, meaning that if it were between 30-50 degrees consistently, these little classy getups may work:

Ohhh if these looks were only possible.

However, if you're in the 8-degree Chicago weather, the fashion looks more like this.

Hmmmm I could have fun with this...

Have a good one! Stay warm!

Mary's Musings...Wednesday

{via}

Hi everyone! I absolutely intended to post this on Monday, but alas the week has gotten away from me.
[Wow I just had a flashback to high school when I said that I had "intended" to do some lame project and proceeded to make an excuse. Keeping in mind I went to a Catholic school, a teacher said to me, "You know, Mary, the road to Hell was paved with good intentions." I digress.]

For today's post I decided to share an article I read last week. It got me thinkin', lemme tell ya.

Refinery 29, a really fun style blog, posted an article on 3/22 called "10 Things You're Wearing That Could Kill You." Fully intrigued by my impending demise, I clicked through the slideshow to read some alarming fashion pitfalls. Some were, admittedly, quite Darwin Award-worthy, but most made me think twice about certain choices. Please read the quick article.

Now let's dissect. Here are some items that could cause harm:
  1. Scarves. Oh my. I am wearing a scarf right now. The next time I am in a car I will ensure that all garments are accounted for before operating or entering any vehicles. Some things are worth the risk, friends.
  2. Platform Shoes. No problem there. I may own heels and trip up stairs when I wear flats, but platforms are not my thing.
  3. Skinny jeans. Crap. I bought a pair at Target recently and love them. Tick tock.
  4. Oversized purses. Uh oh. My bag is huge, contains my computer and my life, and completely weighs me down. I feel like my right shoulder has an indent in it.
  5. Flip-flops. Noooo don't take those away from me! However, please see #2. Foot gear aside, maybe I should just focus on my posture, balance, and overall coordination. Baby steps.
  6. Cheap jewelry. Well, I guess this gives me even more reason to wear my pearls.
  7. Wedding rings. Not a problem right now, but it definitely made me think.
  8. Keratin. Can't afford it so I'm the in the clear! Whew!
  9. Expired beauty products. I'm absolutely certain I am guilty of this one. I also need to clean those pesky brushes...
  10. Colored contacts. God blessed me with these baby blues, so I'm all set there. But I hate contacts. They destroy my eyes anyway.
What do all of you think? Are you guilty of these habits too? Tell me I'm not alone! :)

Friday's Fancies: Color Crush

Happy Weekend!

This week on {av}'s Friday's Fancies we are all creating dream outfits around a color we are all crushing on currently. Lately on pinterest I have pinned nearly every picture with a nude/neutral/pastel combo. Here are a couple of examples:

...and so on.

I am not one to wear nude colors, but for some reason they are calling my name. Enter my polyvore creation for this week's fancies.
Friday's Fancies: Color Crush

I centered two outfits around a gorgeous nude coat. As a blonde I am not sure I cold pull it off, but who knows? Instead of pastels I punched up the neutral with bold colors in the green dress and blue clutch, because that's how I add some sass to a classy look. I'm thinking soft curls for either look, bronzer for the one shoulder and classic makeup for the green. I drool over both pairs of shoes and both clutches on a regular basis. Someday, friends, someday. haha :)

Have a great weekend and head over to Long Distance Loving to see more color crushes!

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

Photobucket

Good morning!

My blogger friend Mimi from Irresistible Icing posted about her Weight Watchers weigh-in today - bravo to Mimi for being so brave and honest. I wish I could be like that! Anyway, her post reminded me that I didn't post about my WW journey on Friday! I only lost 0.3 pounds, but hey it's going in the right direction...and we had a friend in town the weekend prior, which means I wasn't as good as I should have been! Anyway, I have 33.1 pounds to go before I hit my goal weight. Woot!

So far this week I have been better than last, meaning I didn't drink as much over the weekend and I held back from eating the worst of things for meals...really I was bad but not as bad as I could have been! I enjoyed myself while being conscious of portions and all of that jazz, keeping in mind that I should refrain from demonizing food. It was a happy weekend. Yesterday and today I woke up early to run 3 miles. It's a fantastic loop - I can still see the stars when I start my run, the streets are silent, and when I get back I can watch the sun rise after I jump on Andrew to wake him up :)

Back to the theme for today: little bit of class. Well, today is a dress-up day at work, which I love because I enjoy the whole business casual regime. I feel like people respect me more when I'm in a nice outfit instead of the usual jeans get-up I'm allowed to wear on a daily basis (woot!). Today I decided to be classy with a skirt and sweater combo, but added my sass by throwing in pops of color: my coral flats, royal purple sweater, and a statement necklace. I've already had compliments!

Here's a classy photo for you today, via my Pinterest:

Stay classy, my friends!
