Weekend Recap!

Ughhhh Monday already? Not fair. One more day would have been nice.

Today I'm linking up with Dana at five30three and Leeann at Join The Gossip to recap my weekend.

Friday started out as usual: gym, dance party, dinner, couch. Glorious.

Saturday was The Air & Water Show! We spent the entire day on our friends' roof, soaking up the sun and ooing and ahhing at the acrobatic planes over the skyline and lake.

That evening we got a little crazy: we ordered a pizza and watched Beethoven on Netflix. I know. Wild. You're jealous aren't you?

Yesterday was full of more relaxation with the screens open and the breeze blowing through the apartment. Teddy got a little crazed when he heard the planes overhead. I love our Sunday routines as of late: sleep in, breakfast, Mass, grocery store, baseball, dinner, lounge, football pre-season, pass out. I also had a Google+ Hangout date with my adorable niece, which was the cherry on top of a fantastic weekend. She showed us her dance moves and made me proud. (Single flowing tear down my cheek!)

We made a new dish last night, too! It's been a while since I've sang the praises for Gina's Skinny Recipes, so I had to do it today: her Chicken Divan is divine!!! I can't believe it's Weight Watchers-friendly! It's creamy, cheesy...and healthy? What?!?!

What about all of you? How did you spend your weekend?

Friday's Fancies and a Giveaway!

Happy Friday!

Today's post is a two-fer! First, I am linking up with {av}'s Long Distance Loving theme this week: Summer Sunset. BUT! The earrings in this set are what I'm going to give away to one of you lovely readers!

Friday's Fancies: Summer Sunset

It's getting chilly-ish in the evenings in Chicago, so this light ensemble would be perfect on the windy beach watching the sunset. The scarf kind of reminded me of a sunset as well!

And how about those earrings, right?!?!

Well, I just so happen to have them in my possession for one of you! Aren't they beautiful?

Last night I went to a trunk show at Fleur de Lis for Limbo Jewelry and Soiree Weddings & Events. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, the store was full of bubbly, treats and flowers, and the jewlery? Ah, the jewelry...

Edson and Anne, owners of Limbo Jewelry, are in town for the art festivals this summer. Their store is in Austin and I will definitely stop there on my next visit! Edson creates each piece in their Austin shop.  I enjoyed listening to the couple's story of how they met and got to where they are by doing what they love. It was fun to hear an artist's journey and inspiration for creating his work. In a way it gives the jewelry a story, providing meaning and a memory of the experience.

I mean, think about it: if you're like me, we usually just pick up some cheap stuff in stores or online because it's trendy.  Rarely do I take the time to stop at real jewelry kiosks at art shows and festivals. Listening to Edson and Anne made me realize that I should get to know the artisans on my festival trips, to give more meaning to the art I wear!

The trunk show had some classic, creative, and dainty baubles that definitely struck my fancy, which is why I have the Lotus Earrings to give away to one lucky winner!

Click on the Rafflecopter link below and enter! The giveaway is open until midnight Thursday, August 23 and I will announce the winner next Friday!

Love the strut.

Well that's unfortunate.

And now for a section I would like to call "Why didn't I think of that?!?!"

I really want to see this at a store.

Where was this guy when I gave a free hug on Michigan Avenue?

And now for my favorite this week:

I would absolutely partake in a free air guitar sesh.

Now I pose a question to all of you: would any of you be interested in linking up on Tuesdays with classy pictures and Thursdays with sassy pictures? Could be fun...let me know! :)

Way Back When Wednesday

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Today I'm nostalgic for Otterbein, my undergrad alma mater.

I recently wrote a letter to prospective students about how I got to where I am because of Otterbein. Plus, I just saw my Big, Cat, this past weekend. And I also recall Taylor's sweet post about missing her sisters. So yeah, I picked a couple throw back shots from Fall Formal senior year...which wasn't really formal, no one really brought guys (I brought a recent grad from our chapter!), and it was at one of my sister's apartments, so basically it was a girls' night where we wore LBDs...and had a couple dudes there to take our pictures.

Anyway, are you feeling nostalgic these days as school is about to start?

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

I had a whole pinterest-inspired classy post ready, but instead I need to post my Madmen avatar!

It's classy, no?

I'm with Andrew, not Don Draper ;)

Try it yourself and show me!

Weekend Update

I'm linking up with Dana from five30three to document my fun weekend. What did I get into over the last couple of days? Honestly, not a whole bunch! I loved it!

Friday night after a workout I came home and had a dance party by myself while Andrew laughed. It was a great start to the weekend. We spent some quality time with the couch and our Netflix.

Saturday Andrew was off for a bachelor party and I...didn't get out of my pajamas until the afternoon. It was glorious.

The best part?

My Big from my sorority was in town and we met up for one of the most random nights I've had in a while. We ate incredible BBQ at Smoque to start the evening. Then we proceeded to the nearest bar which was the classiest establishment I have ever patroned. There was a liquor store attached, glass-covered walls, free stale popcorn on the bar, and it was cash only. Oh and the bar is called The Hangover. Oh and we decided to join in the sing-along to awful music with the other 10 people in the bar. Then we took over the jukebox and got rowdy. Our bartender got a kick out of our antics and kept giving us free drinks. At one point a woman across the bar said to her friend (as we sang along to Don't Stop Believing, obviously), "Wow. They are really loud."

I'm so proud of us.

Here are some pictures that forever capture one of the funniest/most obnoxious nights I have ever experienced, especially in Chicago. What can I say? My Big taught me well!

Fridays Fancies!

Happy, happy, HAPPY Friday!

Can you tell how pumped I am to sleep in tomorrow?!?! I started a new workout regimen this week and I am hurting for some R&R!

Today I'm linking up with {av} from long distance loving for Friday's Fancies! This week's theme hails to the gorgeous gingham print. I have always gravitated toward the classic pattern so participating this week was a no-brainer.

However, I decided to dress up my gingham. Usually I'd go the casual route by pairing a gingham button down with shorts or wearing a gingham skirt...but when I saw a classy dress on polyvore I couldn't resist upping the ante.

Friday's Fancies Gingham Gorg

It can be easy to be matchy-matchy when you wear black and white, but I decided to pick unexpected pops of color to round out the ensemble with the blue strap in the shoe and the coral clutch.

Not only do I REALLY want a monogrammed bracelet, but now that I've seen these shoes I feel like I just plain need them. My bank account disagrees, so I will just worship from afar.

Stop by long distance loving to check out the rest of the gorgeous gingham creations!

Have a fun weekend!
