Friday's Fancies Labor Day!

Happy Friday, party people! Yesterday our work outing to the Cubs game is making me extremely grateful that our awesome boss closed the office today! Happy Friday indeed.

This week on {av}'s Friday's Fancies we are posting a Labor Day weekend outfit. While I don't normally wear white I sure do like it. And I like it year round. But why not play to the whole "rule" and post the "last" white outfit for the year...that is, until I post winter white in a few months :)

We're heading over to Saugatuck for the weekend, so here's what I would wear around the charming town if I had the money for such an ensemble. Dream big, folks. And when I dream, I dream in Tory, Michael, and La Mer! Oh My!

Friday's Fancies: Labor Day

I mean, I love white linen pants. I have yet to find a pair that isn't completely see-through, but I do enjoy the concept. Pair that with the cutest little bow sandals, and all of those accessories? Bah, I drool.

Have a fun and safe weekend!

Little Bit of Sass Thursday

Photobucket

Today I'm posting over at A Buckeye in Badgerland! My sorority sister, Sarah, just had an adorable baby so I'm guest posting while she focuses on her little boy! Go stop by! (I mean, uh, after you read this post.)

How about a little sass today?

This is fabulous and I want it. The end.

Again with the fabulous and the want.

And now, my favorite for the week:

Sorry I'm not sorry if that song is now stuck in your head.

Way Back {When}sday

Hey everyone!
(Must thank Rachel from Can't Google Everything again for today's theme.)

Since today was a random half-day off, Andrew suggested that I tribute this throwback post to another random day...the day we went to the zoo.

Way back in the winter of 2010 Andrew got a random day off from work. I, being a grad school intern, took a random day off of my internship. We decided to make a visit to the panda pen at The National Zoo. Why?

Better question: Why NOT?

OK, but seriously it was because one panda (Tai Shan) was soon-to-be shipped back to China and we wanted to see him before that time. If you lived in DC, Tai Shan's departure was headline news. Every day.

We had so much fun walking among all of the other random families out and about. The best part (other than seeing Tai) was our visit to the gift shop when we bought our own panda stuffed animals.

Where would you go on a random day off?

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

Photobucket

Today I am not going to post pictures from my Classy Pinterest board.

Instead, I  compiled a collage from my jaunt around town yesterday afternoon. After all, Chicago is a classy broad.

Why wasn't I at work?

Well, our awesome CEO gave our company two free half days. I didn't realize that I needed to use both of them before Labor Day else I lose them. Oops. I cannot let that happen, so yesterday around 10:30 a.m. I scrambled to do all necessary work and decided I would take a half day.

But what to do?

I was not armed with the appropriate attire for the beach, I do not have the money to partake in a shopping spree, and I recently got my nails done. The beach, Mag Mile, and the spa were all out.
(Wow. Talk about First World Problems. I kind of feel terrible right now.)

All I knew was that I was not going to spend a beautiful sunny Chicago day indoors.

I decided to be a tourist! I booked my hop on/hop off bus tour, met Andrew for lunch, and I was on my way!

The tour was about a two-hour bus ride in and around the Loop. While it was no Architecture Tour (LOVE THAT TOUR!), I do highly recommend doing it! Our tour guide was funny, incredibly informative, and clearly a Chicago native. I had a fantastic time!

Tomorrow I'm taking my second half day of the summer, and aside from changing my ID to my new address I don't have plans until book club. One Brick (volunteer group) doesn't have any events and I will workout in the morning before work with boot camp, so I need advice on what to do.

How would you spend an unplanned half day off of work? The weather will be glorious again, so napping at home is not an option. Send ideas my way!

Weekend Update: Or, How to {Not} be Attractive

Good morning, friends!

It's pretty funny that I'm linking up with the girls today, considering I took two pictures this weekend. One of which I can't post since I sneaked a photo of Andrew napping with the cat nearby. It was cute, but I promised I wouldn't post it. The second one is of cupcakes. So, basically, this post is full of tips on how to be attractive. I think I mastered it this weekend.

Friday: we went grocery shopping for the party and then ate a frozen pizza while watching Mysteries at the Museum. Literally seconds after I put down my plate I passed out. Sitting up. Mouth open. At 9:30 p.m. Charming.

Saturday: we threw a house-warming party Saturday night, which was a blast. I actually looked like a woman for it. It's amazing what a hair dryer and round brush can do, folks. Before that, however, I spent the day cleaning. I snuck a peak at my mug at one point and I can't believe I didn't capture my glory: t-shirt, shorts, dirty hair pulled back, glasses, no make-up, covered in dust and grime. I looked at myself and thought, "Self, why DON'T you make your blog a style blog? This is GOLD."

Sunday: I showered and got dressed, feeling pretty decent considering we had a great party. That was until, however, 3:30 p.m. when my hangover decided to join us. I had every intention of going to the Randolph Market and The Taste of Greece for dinner, but that rain and my sweatpants kept me tucked away. I did not get sick or anything, but I did take a swift nap on the cold bathroom floor. Why, when your stomach feels icky, does something so wrong like laying on the bathroom floor feel so right?

So there you go, three tips to being your most attractive self: open-mouthed pizza pass-outs, dust-covered dirty hair cleaning, and bathroom naps.

I have three words: God Bless Andrew.

Oh and here are the baked goods I made:

Little Bit of Sass Thursday

Photobucket

First things first, today is the last day for the Limbo Jewelry Giveaway! Make sure you enter, I will announce the winner tomorrow! :)

Now let's sass it up, shall we?

Definitely keeping these commandments in mind as I plan for our party on Saturday. Chicago bloggers, want to come? Let me know!! :)

Two questions: have any of you tried this and does it work? Fingers crossed it does and takes minimal time.

Want. Need. Would look good with my hair. Justified.

If I ever saw this sign outside a bar I would immediately stop what I was doing and enter...and partake in the special.

Nerd jokes are the best!

Must try this on a non-lazy day.

"I'll Get You My Pretty" has so much more meaning now.

Pinned this gem from Stephanie of Bourbon and Glitter. It's definitely my favorite this week:

Way Back {When}sday!

Thanks to Kate for the idea to combine When and Wednesday!

Who's Kate? Funny you should ask. I referred to her in this post because she says inappropriate things and our group of friends would laugh, roll our eyes, I would blush, and we would all exclaim "X!" Kate was my co-worker Kim's roommate. We met at Tombs in Georgetown and for the three of us it was a match made in Party Girl Heaven. (Soon after I met the rest of our soon-to-be tight-knit group of gals and angels sang.)

So today I'm going to go way back to the first time Kate, Kim and I partied together in DC. We played Bar Golf in Adams Morgan for our friend's birthday. For the non-DC folk, Adams Morgan is like a smaller version of Wrigleyville. We had score cards and everything to document the night.

Polos and pearls? Check and check. I couldn't think of a better way to initiate myself in a new city.

How did you party when you first moved to a new city?

P.S. have you entered my Limbo Jewelry Giveaway???

Little Bit of Class Tuesday

Photobucket

It's Tuesday, so it's time for some classy photos.
The more I search the more I want, and the more I want the more I am reminded that I am on a spending freeze. Wah. Oh well, it's fun to dream, right?

Metallics and blue? Don't mind if I do!

Aside from the chambray and sneakers I'm golden.

This outfit makes me excited for early fall days.

The LBD of the week.

And, finally, a classy pup:
